Good run of surf over the coming days
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 25th March)
Best Days: Every day until Sunday morning when it gets tiny, ideal for beginners
Recap
Solid and clean 3ft waves yesterday morning, while today started at 2-3ft, while a new pulse of long-period W/SW groundswell due to 3-4ft this afternoon hasn't really made any real impact at Cape Sorell yet. Still we should be continuing to see at least 3ft sets on the coast.
This week and weekend (Mar 26 – 29)
This afternoon's increase in W/SW groundswell is due to ease off tomorrow, while a weak front pushing through today will generate a reinforcing mid-period swell keeping the size up into the afternoon, easing back Friday from 2ft.
Winds tomorrow should be light out of the W/NW, tending variable offshore ahead of sea breezes, with Friday seeing N/NW tending E/NE winds.
Moving into the weekend and we've got a slight upgrade in a new SW groundswell due on Saturday with an unfavourably aligned but good fetch of pre-frontal W/NW winds due to move through our swell window along the polar shelf today and early tomorrow.
Sets mostly to 2ft are due, with possibly the odd bigger one in the mix with gusty N/NE winds. N/NE winds are due to persist through Sunday with the swell fading from a tiny 1-1.5ft.
Longer term a stronger polar low is forecast to form in our medium-range western swell window this weekend, producing a new W/SW groundswell for early next week. More on this Friday though.
