Lots of swell for the weekend, not the cleanest
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 6th December)
Best Days: Protected spots Saturday, Sunday morning, Monday morning
Recap
Great conditions yesterday morning with a good 3ft of swell, easing back into the afternoon and to 2-3ft this morning but with strong and unfavourable W/NW winds.
This weekend and next week (Dec 7 - 13)
The final frontal system in the progression seen this week is currently firing up and into us, with plenty of swell left into the weekend. We'll see the swell direction swinging from SW tomorrow to S/SW on Sunday and with size tomorrow.
A fetch of strong to near gale-force SW winds are being aimed up and into us today with the frontal system sliding slowly east while slowly weakening tomorrow and then gone Sunday.
We should see 4ft of SW swell tomorrow but with average and gusty W/SW-W winds shifting SW through the day. Sunday is looking a little better with a light W/NW breeze more than likely ahead of S/SE sea breezes as the swell eases back from 3ft on the sets.
Monday should still see a fun size swell and easing 2ft sets under strengthening N/NE winds.
Next week looks mostly lean, with a small and tight low forming south-west of us Sunday likely to produce a small SW swell to 1-2ft Tuesday morning though with W/SW tending SW winds.
Later week a couple of weak fronts moving through may produce a W/SW swell Friday, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
