West swells and west winds
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 15th November)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Monday, Tuesday morning
Recap
An easing mix of swells from 2-3ft yesterday across Clifton, back t a smaller 1-2ft this morning. A new mid-period W/SW swell is due to show this afternoon, kicking wave heights back to 3ft on the sets. Strong W/NW winds will persist.
This weekend and next week (Nov 16 - 22)
There's no real change to the weekend outlook with an elongated fetch of strong W/SW winds currently moving in from the west, due to produce plenty of mid-period W/SW swell.
Surf to 2-3ft is due all weekend, easing off later Sunday and dropping further Monday. A poorly aligned and strengthening front moving in Sunday should keep Monday and Tuesday morning around 1-2ft, fading thereafter.
Winds will be best for protected spots tomorrow with a dawn W/NW breeze, shifting W/SW mid-late morning and strengthening, while Sunday looks dicey with a W/SW tending SW breeze. There may be lighter winds at dawn but don't count on it.
Monday will be cleaner with a N/NW tending W/NW breeze, with Tuesday looking dicey again with W tending S/SW winds.
Longer term there's nothing significant due until later next week and weekend, with a broad low with embedded fronts moves in from the west. The swells look west from this source and not too sizey, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
