Fun weekend, swell next week, but the winds..
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 4th October)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
Recap
Clean and fun easing 2-3ft waves yesterday morning, tiny and bumpy today as a front moves through.
This weekend and next week (Oct 5 - 11)
The front moving across and under us today will generate a new SW swell for Saturday to 2-3ft with a morning W/NW-NW breeze, fresh E/NE into the afternoon opening up a few options as the swell eases.
Sunday looks smaller with 1-2ft leftovers and a N/NE offshore ahead of a mid-afternoon W/NW change.
Monday should still be 1-2ft with a small reinforcing SW swell and N/NW tending variable breeze as a cold front approaches from the west.
This cold front will be slow moving, forming south-southwest of WA tomorrow and generating a fetch of strong W/SW winds through our western swell window before tracking up and into Victoria on Monday.
This will unfortunately bring strong onshore SW tending S/SW winds on Tuesday when the swell from the front peaks to the 2ft+ range.
A better SW groundswell is on the cards for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, generated by a slightly stronger fetch of polar W'ly gales.
2-3ft surf should be seen later Wednesday and more so Thursday morning but with what looks to be onshore winds again as a strong moves in slowly from the west. More on this Monday though. Have a great weekend!
