Recap
Tiny waves on Saturday to 1-1.5ft with a morning offshore, slightly bigger Sunday with a new W/SW swell.
Today the swell was back to a tiny 1-1.5ft, best at exposed breaks.
This week and weekend (Jan 31 – Feb 5)
Into tomorrow our inconsistent W/SW groundswell from the south-east Indian Ocean is due. This will also be mixed in with some local short-range W/SW swell through the afternoon and more so Wednesday morning.
Inconsistent 1-2ft sets are due tomorrow morning with a W/NW tending W/SW breeze. Wednesday should then reveal easing 1-2ft waves with a NW tending W/NW offshore.
A low point in swell is due Thursday morning, but another increase in short-range W/SW swell is due through the afternoon, peaking Friday morning.
This will be from a strengthening but still relatively weak frontal system moving in from the west.
We should see Clifton reaching 1-1.5ft by dark Thursday with a late swing to W/NW offshores, peaking Friday morning to 1-2ft along with all day offshores.
Longer term there's nothing major on the cards, and a stationary fetch of SE winds on the shelf may generate inconsistent 1ft sets early next week. More on this Wednesday.
