Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 26th September)

Best Days: No good days, check the East Coast notes

Recap

Tiny waves over the weekend, clean Saturday and average Sunday. Today the tiny surf has continued, ideal for beginners.

This week and weekend (Sep 27 – Oct 2)

Tiny waves are due to continue over the coming days and the best pulse of inconsistent W/SW groundswell due Thursday morning looks to be with poor and strengthening NE tending E/NE winds.

This will be related to a severe low moving in from the west with a solid increase in E/NE groundswell due across the East Coast. Therefore it will be worth checking the forecast for that region later this afternoon.

As the low continues south-east a fetch of E/SE gales will be generated under us pre-dawn Friday, kicking up a small SE swell to 2ft or so in Clifton. Other exposed spots down the coast will be much bigger and winds should tend more NE through the day. This won't help conditions much at all though.

The outlook from the weekend doesn't look any better with a possible small SW swell to 1-2ft for Saturday but with dicey winds and then tiny surf into next week. More on this Wednesday.
