Tiny week ahead, better Saturday
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 18th April)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Thursday for beginners, Saturday
Recap
Saturday started off tiny and onshore ahead of an afternoon increase in W/SW tending SW swell.
This swell pushed in very strongly Sunday with solid 3-5ft sets across Clifton through the morning, likely larger at the peak of the swell with NW tending W/SW winds. A drop in size was seen overnight, back from a clean 2-3ft this morning.
This week and weekend (Apr 19 - 24)
I hope you made the most of the last couple of days of swell as from tomorrow the surf will back away, fading from 1-2ft and remaining tiny to flat for the rest of the week. The only chance for a tiny wave is Thursday morning with a very long-range and inconsistent W/SW groundswell due to only offer 1ft sets if that.
Into Friday though a strengthening polar frontal system is due to produce a fetch of severe-gale W/SW winds under us, producing a good pulse of SW swell for Saturday morning. Clifton should come in around 2-3ft before fading rapidly through the day and further Sunday. Conditions are looking clean with a NW tending W/NW breeze, so make the most of it!
Longer term the storm track will remain unfavourably aligned, but check back here Wednesday for more on this.
