Tiny weekend good for beginners, better next week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 10th July)
Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Recap
Fun easing S/SE swell from 2ft on the sets with offshore winds yesterday, back from 1-1.5ft this morning.
This weekend and next week (Jul 11 – 17)
There's not much to work this this weekend, with a tiny increase in W/SW groundswell due to keep infrequent 1-1.5ft through the afternoon under N/NW tending N/NE winds.
A slightly bigger pulse is due Sunday afternoon to an infrequent 1-2ft, but early variable winds are due to increase from the SE through the day.
Monday is due to be tiny, with an easing swell from Sunday under fresh to strong S/SW tending W/NW winds.
The outlook looks more exciting from Tuesday with a mix of inconsistent but strong SW groundswell with some building S'ly tending S/SE swell due.
This will be related to a pre-frontal fetch of W/NW gales followed by stronger trailing W/SW winds pushing through our swell window today and tomorrow.
Inconsistent 3ft sets are due across Clifton from this swell Tuesday, peaking through the middle of the day, before easing into Wednesday.
Winds are looking to remain favourable most of the day now, with a fresh and persistent W'ly breeze.
As the swell eases into Wednesday, some new S'ly and S/SE swell are due to build, generated by a broad and funky low developing to our south-east. This should initially aim a burst of S/SW winds through our swell window Monday, producing a small S/SW swell for Tuesday to 2ft or so.
At the base of the low, a fetch of strong S/SE winds are due to be generated through our swell window Tuesday and Wednesday before fading Thursday.
A fun S/SE swell should result, building Wednesday afternoon and peaking overnight, easing Thursday with favourable winds. We're probably looking at 2ft+ waves later Wednesday and Thursday morning, but we'll have to review this Monday as the models are diverging at the moment. Have a great weekend!
