Average outlook ahead until next week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 8th July)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Tuesday afternoon
Recap
A mix of swells came in at 3ft yesterday morning with better than expected morning NW breezes. This morning a S/SE swell was offering inconsistent 2ft to occasionally 3ft sets across exposed breaks with light N/NW winds.
This week and weekend (Jul 9 – 12)
The S/SE swell should still be in the 2ft range tomorrow morning before fading through the day and further Friday. Winds look great and will remain offshore through the end of the week.
A small and inconsistent pulse of W/SW groundswell for Saturday is now looking a little dicey, with the pre-frontal W/NW fetch not really placed well in our swell window. A small kick to 1-1.5ft may be seen, but keep your expectations low.
Also Sunday's swell has been downgraded with the polar front linked to it, due to push north-east and up towards SA, perpendicular to our swell window.
Only a small and inconsistent 1-2ft wave is due to develop through the day with average and increasing SW winds (possibly W/NW at dawn).
Next week onwards (Jul 13 onwards)
The outlook into next week is quite dynamic, with some strong SW groundswell due Tuesday, mixed in with some junky S'ly windswell as a broad Tasman Low sits off the East Coast.
Conditions will be poor but possibly improving as another front approaches Tuesday with a mix of swells to 3-4ft or so.
Longer term some distant SW groundswell is on the cards for later in the week with average winds, but more on this Friday.
