Nothing significant through the period
Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Monday 26th May)
Best Days: Early Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday
Recap
A large S/SW groundswell pushed in on Saturday with onshore winds, favouring protected locations across the South Arm, but without too much size for those super protected spots.
Sunday was smaller but much better with morning offshore winds and plenty of options across the bay.
Today a secondary pulse of strong S'ly groundswell from a vigorous polar frontal progression has filled in, peaking at 3-4ft under offshore winds again. The swell should of eased since this morning as winds tended variable.
This week (May 26 - 30)
The frontal system linked to today's swell has moved off quickly towards New Zealand and as a result we'll see wave heights continuing to tail off into tomorrow rapidly, with 1-2ft sets expected early before becoming tiny into the afternoon.
Conditions should be clean all day across Clifton, but the morning will be the best of it with the most size.
Wednesday is expected to remain tiny, but into Thursday a new S/SW groundswell should be generated by a broad but relatively weak polar front firing up from the polar shelf tomorrow.
Size wise we're only looking at 1-2ft waves Thursday before fading from 1-1.5ft or so Friday. Winds will generally be offshore and from the NW Thursday morning before tending variable into the afternoon with N/NW winds on Friday.
This weekend onwards (May 31st onwards)
Over the weekend we should see a couple of small pulses of SW groundswell from a couple of less than favourably aligned polar fronts firing up to our south-west. Each system will produce a fetch of W/NW winds, not ideally in our swell window with only 2ft sets due through Sunday and then into Monday.
Longer term there's still nothing major on the cards at all, but check back here on Wednesday for the latest on this.
