Best Days: Keen surfers South Coast swell magnets tomorrow, both coasts Saturday, and Monday, South Coast Tuesday

Recap

Fun clean options each morning across the South Coast, though small and best on the swell magnets. Tiny 1-1.5ft waves on the Mid Coast yesterday and back to 1ft today.

This week and weekend (Sep 26 - 29)

Out current easing swell will continue to drop out into tomorrow leaving tiny waves off Middleton to 1-1.5ft, but Waits and Parsons should see the odd 2ft set for the keen. The Mid Coast will be tinier.

Conditions look great with a N/NE tending NW breeze, favouring those exposed breaks, while a SW change is due to move through around dawn Friday as the swell truly bottoms out.

An afternoon increase in windswell is likely as winds swing S/SE, but to no major size.

Moving into the weekend and our inconsistent long-range SW groundswell is still on track, with the intense and slow moving polar low linked to it now weakening south-west of WA.

A fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds were aimed through our swell window, with the swell expected to arrive later Friday and peak through Saturday (possibly under sized early) to an inconsistent 3-4ft off Middleton with infrequent 1-2ft sets on the favourable parts of the tide across the Mid Coast.

Winds will improve and swing to the E/NE-NE through the morning, though the South Coast will likely be lumpy and peaky still, cleanest on the Mid Coast.

The swell will ease into Sunday from 3ft and 1-1.5ft on the Mid Coast but winds now look to be onshore out of the S/SE as a trough moves through.

Our secondary pulse of slightly bigger and more consistent SW groundswell for Monday is still on track, with a secondary slightly weaker polar low now forming east of Heard Island.

A fetch of severe-gale W'ly winds will be generated, weakening but remaining gale-force while moving under the country over the coming days. The low will continue onwards and under Tassie on the weekend.

The swell should arrive overnight Sunday and peak Monday to a good 3-5ft off Middleton, while the Mid Coast looks smaller and 1ft to maybe 2ft as winds swing back to the E/NE-NE for the South Coast.

Tuesday looks the pick as the groundswell eases from the S/SW along with better N/NE winds, smaller into the end of the week. More on this Friday though.
