Fun Sunday, best Monday and then average again from mid-week
South Australian Forecast (issued Friday 28th August)
Best Days: Sunday morning, Monday morning, Tuesday morning South Coast, Mid Coast for tiny waves
Recap
Great waves across the South Coast early yesterday morning with a strong S/SW groundswell and variable winds before a SW change pushed through mid-late morning.
Onshores strengthened into today with poor junky waves across the coast under S/SE breezes. The Mid was tiny and wind affected yesterday, cleaner today.
This weekend and next week (Aug 29 – Sep 4)
Sunday is still the pick of the weekend, with tomorrow only doable for desperate and keen surfers.
A mix of swells will be breaking to 2-3ft at Middleton and 4ft at Waits and Parsons but with a fresh E/SE to E'ly breeze. This will create average conditions suited to only a select few locations.
Sunday will be better as winds tend NE and an inconsistent SW groundswell fills in, reaching a very infrequent and peaky 3ft across Middleton and 4-5ft at Waits. Afternoon sea breezes will develop so try and get in before lunch.
Monday looks great with the strongest of the long-range and inconsistent SW groundswells peaking through the morning. This should see 3ft+ sets across Middleton with 4-5ft+ bombs at Waits and Parsons under offshore N/NE tending N/NW winds.
Small waves are due into Tuesday with N/NW winds likely through the morning ahead of a shalow change. Some small W/SW swell should also be in the mix, showing best on the Mid to 1-1.5ft, generated by a couple of weak fetches of W'ly winds through the Bight over the weekend.
Longer term, a small but deepening cut-off low pushing across us mid-week is forecast to bring onshore S/SE winds from Wednesday kicking up solid levels of S/SE windswell along with poor onshore S/SE winds.
Into the weekend another distant long-range SW groundswell is due but to no major size and winds look to persist from the S/SE. More on this Monday though. Have a great weekend!
