Recap

Chunky E/NE swells from TC Alfred were in the 3-4ft range yesterday morning, building to 4-5ft through the afternoon but then easing slightly today under SW now light NE winds.

This weekend and next week (Mar7- Mar14)

No material change to weekend f/cast. TC Alfred is maintaining intensity as a low end Cat 2 cyclone, as it moves slowly towards SEQLD at a walking pace. Gales to storm force winds are located across the SE and SW quadrants.

Swells easing from TC Alfred as it crosses the QLD coast

Swells from TC Alfred will hold 3-4ft surf into tomorrow with an easing trend, with high pressure moving E of Tasmania supplying light N tending NE winds, perking up in the a’noon.

NE winds increase Sun, and as E/NE swell fades out, we’ll see increasing NE windswell build to 3ft in the a’noon.

Into next week and 3-4ft NE windswell holds into Mon morning with light winds before a SW change arrives mid-morning with winds quickly shifting S then S/SE as a trough moves NE and a front moves past the state.

That will bring a flush of short range S swell building late Mon into the 2-3ft range and extending into Tues morning at similar sizes before easing. Winds will shift SE then E on Tues so expect poor conditions.

We should see a round of NE windswell Wed as high pressure in the Tasman and an approaching cut-off low briefly tighten pressure gradients with NE winds increasing and swell building to 3ft during the day.

We should see that swell ease Thurs and then rebuild Fri into the weekend as a front approaches from the West.

We’ll see how that looks on Mon.

Seeya then and have a great weekend!
