Fun S'ly swell to focus on
Eastern Tasmanian Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday April 15th)
Best Days: Tomorrow afternoon protected northern corners, early Sunday south magnets
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Building S'ly groundswell tomorrow PM, peaking late, easing Sun
- Variable SW tending strong N/NE winds tomorrow, N/NW tending N Sun
Recap
Fun, smaller surf yesterday though still holding fun sets across open beaches today out of the east.
This weekend and next week (Apr 16 - 22)
Our run of favourable winds and weather will change temporarily tomorrow with a trough bringing an overnight S/SE change. It looks weak enough that winds will be variable from the SW across most locations ahead of strengthening N/NE sea breezes.
We should see small, inconsistent sets easing from 2ft out of the E/NE along with a new, building S’ly groundswell linked to the trough bringing the overnight change.
This swell will be generated by the tail of the progression with a great fech of gale to severe-gale SW winds projected through our southern swell window, kicking up 3ft to possibly 4ft of S’ly swell later in the day, easing from 2-3ft Sunday.
Conditions look much better Sunday with a NNW tending N’ly breeze.
Make the most of this swell as longer term, there’s nothing significant at all for next week, with some possible refracted S’ly swell on the cards for next weekend. More on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
