Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 2nd June)

Best Days: No surf days until late next week

Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)

  • Fleeting pulse of weak S'ly swell late Fri and Sat AM
  • Better swell potential from the E/NE later next week

Recap

A fading swell yesterday with the odd stray set, tiny today.

This week and weekend (Jun 3 - 7)

The coming outlook remains void of any major surf through the end of the week and weekend, but looking at next week, we've got a much more interesting setup on the cards.

There might be a tiny spike of S'ly swell late Friday and early Saturday from a brief cold front pushing up past us Friday afternoon but don't expect anything over 1-2ft max.

Onto next week, and a broad mid-latitude low will move in across Victoria mid-week and stall while strengthening.

This should see a strengthening fetch of E/NE winds aimed into us Wednesday, kicking up an initial stormy and wet increase in windswell.

The low is forecast to drop south-east through the end of the week, swinging winds offshore or at least light and variable along with moderate levels of E/NE swell. The models are shifting around a little regarding the positioning etc, but check back here Friday and Monday for a better idea on what's in store.
