Small S pulses followed by NE
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 6th November)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Sunday south magnets, Monday south magnets, northern corners Wednesday, Thursday
Recap
Small 1-2ft waves yesterday, flat today as a strong cold front pushes across the state.
This week and weekend (Nov 5 - 8)
Looking at the coming weekend and a broad, strong but not overly well aligned polar front is expected to push up past us this afternoon and through tomorrow morning, bringing a mix of S'ly groundswell and S'ly windswell to the coast.
On the tail of this front will be a more polar and better aligned front, generating a secondary pulse of S'ly swell for Monday morning.
Looking at the size and tomorrow is a bit hit and miss but we should see south swell magnets coming in around 3ft though with a W/SW-SW tending SE breeze.
A drop in size is expected Sunday from 2-3ft on the south magnets and a morning W/SW breeze should give into NE sea breezes into the afternoon across all locations.
The secondary pulse of S'ly swell for Monday won't offer any major size but should keep south magnets around 2ft with W/NW tending strong N/NE winds.
Now, our N/NE windswell event flagged on Wednesday is looking decent but likely not to any major size with small to moderate levels of swell due from Tuesday afternoon through Friday.
A slow moving and strong low in the Bight will squeeze a high in the Tasman Sea, bringing persistent strong N/NE winds in our swell window.
We should see fun 2-3ft sets Wednesday, more so 3ft+ Thursday morning before the low brings a swing in winds and the swell fades Friday from 2ft.
Check back here Monday for a clearer idea on the expected size and conditions. Have a great weekend!
Comments
Do you reckon there’ll be more south swell wrapping in further south?
I wouldn't think so. With these swell sources they generally perform better up the coast.
Thanks mate
