Poor period, possibly fun Saturday morning
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 31st December)
Best Days: Saturday morning
Recap
As expected the N/NE windswell didn't reach as high as the models were forecasting and more in line with my expectations, with smaller 2ft sets seen across the north-east magnets all weekend.
This morning the size should of dropped and been mostly tiny.

This week and weekend (Jan 1 - 6)
Unfortunately as touched on in Friday's notes there's nothing really of significance at all for our coast over the coming period.
Storm activity in the Southern Ocean will be zonal in nature, moving west to east while activity in the Coral Sea is too far north to really generate any size for us down here.
There's a slight chance for a small wave at south swell magnets across the northern end of the coast Thursday morning from a broad fetch of strong to gale-force W/SW winds passing under us Wednesday.
Size wise I wouldn't expect much over 2ft but unfortunately winds look average with a E'ly tending NE breeze as a ridge of high pressure slides in from the west.
A tiny increase in N/NE windswell may be seen Friday from these strengthening NE winds, but Saturday morning is a much better chance as a strong burst of broad N/NE winds develop down the southern NSW coast and across the exit to Bass Strait.
A small 2ft wave is likely at north-east magnets, easing through the day and with S'ly tending E winds as a trough moves up the coast.
This looks to be the day of the period. Longer term there's still nothing of significance for our region, but more on this Wednesday. Happy New Year!
