Best Days: More swell potential later next week onwards

Recap

Tiny yesterday, while a small fleeting pulse of N/NE swell kicked to 2-3ft through today with favourable winds.

This week and weekend (May 5 - 11)

Any N/NE swell seen through today will drop right back through tomorrow with nothing of note due over the weekend.

A building NW swell showing on the charts Monday won't get into the coast at all, with it being generated by strengthening N/NW winds aimed away from us.

The next chance for a wave is later in the week when a strong polar frontal system pushing across us directs a fetch of severe-gale S'ly winds through our southern swell window on the polar shelf Wednesday evening.

A good S'ly groundswell is likely off this fetch, filling in Friday to 3ft+ or so, though a front sliding up past us at the same time may bring some local S'ly windswell. We'll have to look at this closer on Monday as well as the possibility of a Tasman Low forming next weekend.

Have a great weekend!
