Flukey swells with varying winds
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 31st August)
Best Days: No great days, later Saturday the pick in southern corners
Recap
Good conditions across south facing breaks yesterday with a good S'ly groundswell and favourable winds. Today the swell was a smaller 2-3ft, mixed in with some N/NE windswell.
This week and weekend (Sep 1 - 4)
Remember: TODAY is your LAST CHANCE to win a trip for two to the Banyak Islands. More information here.
Small traces of N/NE windswell will fade across magnets tomorrow morning as the fetch generating the swell moves away from us today.
Only 1-2ft max is expected at magnets with good offshore W/NW winds.
Friday will start tiny, with a possible late pulse of S'ly swell, more so Saturday morning.
This S'ly swell, which is only expected to reach 1-2ft max at south magnets will be produced by a weak fetch of SW winds projecting north-east past the south-east corner of the state tomorrow afternoon. I wouldn't hold my breath chasing the swell though.
Into Saturday afternoon and Sunday a small short-lived spike in E'ly swell may be seen as a deepening inland low moves offshore. As this happens, a quick moving fetch of E'ly winds will be aimed in our swell window Saturday.
The timing isn't ideal, with only a late kick in size due, maybe to 2ft with S/SW winds Saturday, fading from 1ft Sunday.
Longer term there's a possibility for some OK S'ly swell for the middle of next week as a cold outbreak pushes up and past us Tuesday, but we'll have another look at this Wednesday.
