Best Days: South swell magnets tomorrow, later next week

Recap

Tiny start to yesterday, but some fresh S'ly swell was seen into the afternoon, fading back into today.

This weekend and next week (Jul 29 – Aug 5)

Unfortunately tomorrow's pulse of new S'ly groundswell isn't looking at big as it was earlier in the week.

Currently a strengthening front is passing across us, with a fetch of strong to gale-force SW winds being aimed through our swell window.

A small S'ly groundswell should come in at 2-3ft across south swell magnets, tiny at open beaches and with favourable W/NW tending N/NW winds. Come Sunday there isn't due to be any size left at all.

Our attention then shifts to the developments next week, and that will be the development of a deepening cut-off low in our vicinity.

The models are still struggling to grasp where this low will sit, but if it's just to our east, we'll see an infeed of gale to severe-gale E/SE winds off our coast, producing a large building SE groundswell into Thursday/Friday.

With the models divergent you'll have to check back here Monday for an update on how this is playing out. Have a great weekend!
