Small week ahead
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Guy Dixon (issued 27th June)
Best Days: Monday
Recap:
Small options have been breaking across exposed south facing beaches over the weekend, with the bigger sets nudging 2ft. Conditions have remained clean for the most part, with winds only tending east/northeasterly this afternoon.
This week (Tuesday 28th - Friday 1st):
The prospects of surf this week are looking pretty grim.
Frontal activity in the coming days looks to move in a zonal fashion from west to east, limiting the chances of any decent southerly energy.
A cut-off low looks to develop this evening off the coast of NSW, however the northerly tending easterly fetches along the eastern quadrants of this system are small, weak disjointed and not very well aligned.
We may see hints of refracted southerly energy off poorly aligned fronts to the south, but size is likely to be negligible.
The swell will ebb and pulse around the 1ft mark for the majority of this working week, with persistent offshore winds being the only real saving grace.
This weekend (Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd) and next week:
A more substantial frontal progression looks to move to the south of Tassie over the weekend, with the main swell generating fetches only becoming favourable late on Sunday evening.
Small hints of refracted southerly energy may build on Saturday and Sunday, but only really offering 1-2ft at the most exposed magnets.
More size is due on Monday as southwesterly breezes hug the coast the night before, providing stronger options at south facing beaches.
Winds are expected to remain favourable, persisting from the northwest each day into next week.
