Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 17th June)

Best Days: South swell magnets Sunday morning, Tuesday

Recap

Nothing to surf the last couple of days with tiny waves.

This weekend and next (Jun 18 - 24)

Don't count on surfing tomorrow, but into Sunday we may see a small refracted S'ly groundswell making its way up and into our south swell magnets.

This is currently being generated by a broad and elongated fetch of W/SW gales moving under the state.'

Inconsistent 2ft sets are due at swell magnets through the morning, fading during the day with a W/NW tending NE breeze.

Into next week the E/NE swell possible from a fast moving Tasman Low off the East Coast isn't looking too favourable with the infreed of NE winds tracking too quickly to the south-east.

We should still see an increase through Tuesday from the NE but only to 2-3ft if that.

Before that though we'll feel the southern extent of the low in the form of a fresh to strong SE tending S/SE wind off our coast Monday afternoon.

This fetch looks too short-lived to generate any meaningful swell as well with just a weak 2ft windswell if that due later in the day Monday, fading Tuesday.

Offshore winds will create clean conditions though Tuesday with some options as the SE and NE swells mix.

Longer term there's nothing significant at all until possibly late week next weekend as a strong cold outbreak moves across us. More on this Monday though, have a great weekend!
