This week and next week (June19-June 28)

Central QLD: Small windows of opportunity ahead next week

Should see more signs of life from the weekend

Basically, tiny/flat surf has continued across CQ but there is some signs of life on the forecast horizon.

This weekend we’ll see winds feeding into a small trough in the Central Coral Sea - it’s not a significant event but it should be enough to see a small bump in E/NE swell Sun, easing into Mon. Surfable on low tides.

Next week looks better. Especially so because models are also suggesting a deep sub-tropical low in Tongan longitudes right on the edge of the swell window (see below), which looks to supply some long period E/SE swell through Wed into Fri. It’s a long travel distance but swells from these sources do tend to over perform wave model estimations so 2 occ. 3ft sets are on the menu with light winds. It will be a long wait for sets and only breaks with swell exposure from Breaksea Spit to the Capricorn Channel will see any action (Burnett coast breaks, basically).

EC is also suggesting a possible low north of the North Island last next week, again right on the edge of the swell window.  We’ll see how that one is shaping up on Fri.

Seeya then.
