A few small waves this week but trade flows slowly moving north into Winter position
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon May 20th)
This weekend and next week (May20-May31)
Central QLD: A few small waves this week but trade flows slowly moving north into Winter position
Another massive high is mooching in the Bight, with a snails pace of eastwards movement expected this week. Wind-wise that will anchor a S’ly flow along the Eastern seaboard for the week with SE winds developing in the Coral Sea. The remnants of the weekend’s low pressure trough are currently being reinforced by a another cold front and expected to form a broad low pressure system in the Tasman in the short term which will supply some fun waves this week with an easing trend into the weekend. CQ will see another slight build in fun SE-E/SE swell from mid week as SE winds rebuild in the Coral Sea.
The next high should reinforce this flow by mid next week. Trade flows are slowly starting to move north out of the CQ swell window but we’ll still see some surfable days over the next week or two.
Check back Wed for the latest.
