Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Fri May 17th)

This weekend and next week (May17-May24)

Central QLD: Easing from Sat with a few small days before it builds again

Still some small peelers on low tide

No change to the outlook, current high pressure is supplying a modest SE flow across the Coral Sea which will hold rideable waves through Sat. A trough in the jet stream and low in the Tasman will disrupt this flow and we’ll see a few tiny days as a result early next week.

The next SE surge is a little higher in the Coral Sea but we should see some small surf develop by mid week, although we are approaching seasonal shifts in the high pressure belt where these winds are too far north for rideable waves for CQ.

Should be just enough strength in this SE flow to develop some rideable waves

Check back Mon and we’ll see how it’s shaping up.

Until then, have a great weekend!
