This week and next week (Jan24 -Feb2)

Central QLD: A couple more days of really fun surf from TC Kirrily before easing into the weekend

Fun waves this week as TC Kirrily crosses NQ coast on Thurs.

Stack of fun today

After an extended period of eyes on the tropics there’s been some fun waves from the windfield surrounding developing TC Kirrily. We’re still waiting for TC Kirrily to form (already called by the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre) and when it does it’s expected to take a straight SW-W/SW track into the NQ coast, crossing around Townsville tomorrow evening. We’ll see fun waves peak through Thurs morning before easing into Fri and becoming tiny over the weekend.

Windfield surrounding TC Kirrily brings heaps of fun surf up to Fri

Absent that, with weak high pressure in the Tasman next week we’ve only got marginal, local wind swells to keep wave zones active next  week, with only tiny/flat surf expected.

Tiny/ flat surf until mid next week where we may see another SE flow develop along the Wide Bay CQ coast and extend out into the Coral Sea. That may see fun surf develop later next week but it’s too early to have any confidence in the specifics.

So get in now and make the most of the current swell.

Check back Fri for the latest.
