A few more fun days ahead but the end is in sight
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (issued on Mon 20th March)
This weekend and next week (Mar23-Mar31)
Central QLD: A few more fun days ahead but the end is in sight
Fun surf has been on offer since Mon with more to come.
High pressure has now moved into the Tasman, reinforcing tradewinds in the Coral Sea. A monsoon trough remains active with a persistent but unspectacular trade-wind flow maintaining a small fun E swell signal favouring CQ with it’s northerly position.
We’ll see the current peak in tradewind swell start to slowly drop back and stabilise from tomorrow as winds start to ease and the fetch becomes a little disjointed heading into the weekend.
Size in the 2ft range tomorrow should hold in that size range, possibly dipping back to 1-2ft over the weekend as the tradewind band thins out.
Into next week we’re likely to see small rideable 1-2ft surf Mon and into Tues before size eases right back to tiny from Wed and through the res of next week as tradewinds dry up.
Check back Fri and we’ll take a last look at the weekend.
