Vertical limits at Shipsterns
Last weekend delivered a beautiful late season swell across southern Australia, with Shipsterns lighting up under a smooth offshore breeze and a bright blue sky. Scouting for a vertical limit, Nigel Eberhardt trod the well worn path through the Tasman National Park, capturing these lovely images from the edge of the clifftop.
In stark contrast to the serene pictures painted here, local surf filmaker Simon Treweek got caught inside during the same swell and was thrown up on to the rocks, suffering a bad gash to his stomach and requiring the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to winch him out to hospital. Fluidzone has all of the imagery here. //BEN MATSON
