Those of you who've been paying attention should know the drill by now: First off the bat is Rodent Coote standing bolt upright and casual through a beast, then Jughead styling with his hands behind his back, followed by Shane Holmes holding a tight line. As Heavy As It Looks

Here are some photos that appear to have all the evil elements in place: dark water, grey foreboding clouds and heaving misshapen barrels. I asked photographer Kerry Down about the session and he said it was every bit as heavy as it looks. "This swell popped up and it was really overcast and raining on and off. It got bigger and bigger throughout the session and the tide just got lower and lower so there was more carnage. It was one of my more memorable sessions."

However, one aspect of the gig I particularly enjoy is when surfers I'm more used to seeing in front of the camera turn the tables. That is, when they grab a camera, swim around the impact zone, get pounded, and focus their attention on someone else.
