Day 1 of the Swatch Girls Pro China went off in, to use the commentators venacular, 'contestable waves'. But hey, if you're going to hold comps in one foot peelers then longboarding is the go. The girls donned the coloured singlets and deftly cross-stepped while trimming down the point. Here's hoping the swell at Riyuewan Bay picks up for the rest of the contest.

The waiting period for the Swatch Girls Pro China begins tomorrow and the competitors have begun milling on Hainan Island, site of the contest. US longboarder, Kassia Meador, was filmed surfing the contest bank and also enjoying the local scenery.
