Morning of the Earth - 50th Anniversary Tour
Albe Falzon’s 1972 film, Morning of the Earth is renowned as one of the greatest surf films of all time. A fantasy of surfers living in 'three unspoiled lands and playing in natures oceans', set to G.Wayne Thomas’ billboard-topping soundtrack.
Now meticulously restored and remastered in 4K, we celebrate the film’s 50th Year Anniversary with you. This museum-grade restoration presents a pristine copy which, Albe says, “looks and sounds better than it ever has.”
In addition to the remastered version of MOTE, the anniversary screenings will also feature the short film 50 Years Around the Sun, which showcases never-been-seen-outtakes from the MOTE “Lost Reels”.
Special Guests:
Albe Falzon (Zoom Q&A)
Stephen Cooney (Melbourne & Sydney Shows only)
Dates and locations (click for tix):
Friday, 25th February – Astor Theatre, Melbourne
Wednesday, 9th March – Orpheum, Sydney

Geez, they'd fill the joint in no time if it came to Torquay.....
And the gong
Hey Tango, we're aiming to get MOTE at Torquay's Australian National Surfing Museum asap. If you can, check our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ANSMTorquay over the coming fortnight for more info...
What about SA? We surf over here too Albe.
Remember when surf films toured to every little small town hall or cinema on the coast. We'd wait excitedly for months after reading about it in the mags, or seeing the posters pasted up everywhere.
I kinda miss that expectation that went with old school film releases
Noosa festival of surfing? Alright if you live there or are wealthy enough to stay in Noosa,or even find accommodation there for this event. I note nothing on the Gold Coast or Northern NSW, where a lot of the surfing in the film occurred. Yet Sydney, which was not featured in MOTE, gets two shows. Pity, as I love the movie and would like to see this screening, it came out at the time I was a teenager and was just getting seriously into surfing and I loved the way surfing was depicted as a lifestyle, not the hyped over-commercialised "sport" it has become. Very few soul surfers left these days.
astrothewonderdog, Here, here. Loved your last few lines.

Very relevant remarks considering the contrived circus that was Pipe, Hawaii
just recently.
