Yep, to me this looks much more fun than Kelly's pond. Loved the oncoming section to whack, and while nobody really got above the lip at Flounders, that back flip is very lofty.

Wonder how much it costs to build one of these, and how the waves are generated. (Edit: just read the guff on AWM's website. Apparently it's driven by pressurised air, but they don't go into detail about it. It'd be interesting to see a tech video.)

As an average punter, I can see myself having fun on this wave and doing some turns I'd be stoked on. With Slater's pool I can see the pressure not to blow the wave would be restrictive, especially with a crowd watching!

IMO this is the type of repetitious wave that I would want to surf (to practice airs and closeout maneuvers). I have a feeling that sitting in a barrel that is guaranteed a clean exit and has a 'maximum achievable depth' on each ride would lose all the charm of getting barrelled in the first place. Practising airs- i can see the merit & hours of entertainment.

Honestly, all this wave development stuff is bloody exciting.... the possibilities.... imagine in 5 years time..... in 10 years time (big waves, in big pool parks).....your imagination can run wild with the future possibilities... I for one am excited by this technology.

That being said, I will always watch the weather and chase the ocean waves for the fun, joy, peace and solace.

Here's a run down...
Aloha Surfhouse is geared to Mall market.[ L] packages/free deals shopping so on.
Geared up BYO surfers are shunted...(Sweet Spot & Barrel are fairytale hours only)

Fin Surfboards are supplied or BYO
(Skegz are supplied helmets?) Possibly for surfing Sweetspot only.
Boogerz/bodybasherz don't need safety gear... as such they surf restricted hours also.

(30mins for $45)( 5 sessions for $175)(10 sessions -$320) (Affords solo/twin rider option)
Open sessions (30mins- 12 riderz) + (2 surfers per wave).

The Barrel is a lefthander that really throws some weight. Surprisingly solid for size.

[NATIONAL COMPETITIONS]
Aloha surfhouse is a default Boardriders Club that has already lured Surfing WA groms.
Rebel AWM competitions are up and running independent of( S.A./WSL/KSWP).
AWM plan host Australian Wide competitions. Dog eat Dog American ethos....
Mall surfers throw bulging wallets into the coin fountain/Beach surfers are tight asses.

AWM are challenging [S.A./WSL/KSWP] to a shopping Mall showdown for Oz Surf Crown.
AWM have trolley full @ checkout/Meanwhile [S.A./WSL/KSWP] are stuck in the lineup.

Note : S.A. let OZ Flowrider circuit slip thru it's fingers now losing OZ standing wave circuit.
AWM could well take out OZ Wave Park title as well. (Rat Pack headed for the Shark Cage)

Wave pool arms races and cold wars between the competition. Might make a good documentary in a few years, but I,m betting 99.99% of us will still be heading for the big blue in our quest for perfection. There is no conquest in a pool, just a mundane , predictable treat served on a platter. No doubt fun for a short period , but for those of us who enjoy the hunt , this like going to the zoo.

Wow, this looks like it would be more fun than Kelly’s. Don’t get me wrong I sooooooo want to surf in Kelly’s wave pool as it would be perfect to refine technique, but this one appears to let you mix it up a bit and have fun. From a spectators point of view, WSL’s Founders Cup might have been a bit more interesting if it was in this wave pool too.

Flowrider + AWM + City Wave + Unit have converged all surfing formats onto the same wave. Well not quite! City Wave has certainly proved it's possible.

To be truthful it never happened organically! Most gear had to be scaled up or down.

Anyboard from Stik/Balance/Grass/Sand/Snow/Flow/Wake/Kite/Surf/Sup/Oar gets a wave.
Wave House or Surf House respond best to same 4 ft 6" scale body-board/craft equally well.

Flowboarders/Bodyboarders are at home performing a side splitting flip each new day.

Surfboard riders are tangled up in their own sealegs while gnawing their fins off .
Surf Houses can't rid of the tankers fast enough- 6 ft"gone/ 5ft 6"gone/ 5ft gone/ 4ft 6"going'. Bringing their own surfboard along looking like a battleship outta water.

Kayaks cut down to 5ft 6" chopping off their legs to get more face time.
Mini Sups are mocking surfboard length as they flying outta of the pool.

Earlier I said not quite!... that was for a particular reason.
WaveHouses don't dare mention surfboards/SurfHouses don't dare mention Flowboards

Strange because Pro Flowboarders would tear apart any Surf House.
Equally so flowboarding WSL Pro's could bust thru the Flow Barrel but it's prohibited.
WSL are still setting up the Hot Wheels loop. (Just like the one on the front of the Pack)

Worlds apart arriving at common ground at same point in time. (Surf Tribes to test water!)

Flowrider has 100's of set ups with comps worldwide/ AWM & City Wave on same path.
What's more! Comps are exactly the same as WSL: (2 best bag of tricks over 30-45 secs)
