The newest and most innovative surf event on the south coast, the Battle Royale, is on again bigger and better than ever before.

The invitation-only surf comp features the best surfers between South Sydney to the Far South Coast of NSW.

Just like the successful event last year, 32 surfers will battle it out in the best waves between Stanwell Park and Sandon Point with the main venue expected to be Thirroul Beach.

This year’s event is on Saturday October 15th and it'll host entertainment, live music and some of the greatest surfing on this part of the coast.

Plus, a Junior Schools event, The Undercard (co-hosted by Illawarra Sports High Talented Surfing Program), will launch on Friday October 14th, with the winner securing a position in the main event on the following day.

The Battle Royale will feature an array of well-known local surfers as well as internationally recognised surfers such as Dylan Longbottom, owner of Dylan Shapes and stunt double for Point Break, Connor O’Leary from Cronulla who's currently second on the World Qualifying Series, Gerringong’s former World Junior Champ Dean Bowen, and Kalani Ball from Stanwell Park who is a past Australian Junior Champion.

Competitors’ names are being released via the Instagram account of major sponsor DP Surfboards and this year will include an Indigenous wildcard in addition to a women’s final.

Local boardriding clubs are involved as well as they nominate their best surfer to compete in the trials event on the prior day for a shot into the main event.

An $8,000 prize pool awaits successful contestants with additional prizes to be won by spectators on the day. The event presentation will be held at Beaches Hotel in Thirroul.
