Iseo Tokovou at Cloudbreak - video
In 1992 16-year-old Isei Tokovou featured on the cover of Australia's Surfing Life dropping into big Cloudbreak. At the time Isei had only been surfing for six months. For the young fella it was the beginning of a long relationship with the Fijian barrier reefs. Isei saw Restaurants and Cloudbreak closed to outsiders before the 2010 decree opened the waves to all. He watched each of Globe's successful World Tour contests and of course Volcom's too. In 2012 he even surfed against Kelly Slater as a wildcard in the Volcom Fiji Pro.
And on Monday he rode the largest wave ever by a Fijian at Cloudbreak. Footage shot by Tim Bonython and will feature in Tim's upcoming ASMF12.
Comments
Isei looks to be a charging big wave surfer at age 16 . Many years later & many good waves later still surfing but for unknown reasons not paddling but tow in by look here . Big wave and a big smile . Hopefully that was a memorable wave he surfed
tow in very different from paddling
Towed for first time on the weekend. Difficult to know how deep you are when you let go of the rope but very different to paddling in.
