Watch: Dylan Graves// The Bono - 7 Ghosts - Explained
Though he's moved on from his 'Weird Waves' franchise, Dylan Graves has stuck with the same schtick - say that seven times speedily.
During recent videos, he's visited Surf Lakes in Yeppoon and surfed the wake of the North Straddie ferry. This entry is far more exotic, with Graves flying to Sumatra and surfing the Kampar River that runs to Sumatra's east coast, into the Strait of Malacca.
Even if you're unfamiliar with the Kampar River, chances are you've seen the tidal bore it produces. Locally called the 7 Ghosts, it shot to fame in 2011 when Rip Curl shot a Search video there.
This could very easily be a bog standard content creation video: catchy name, Photoshopped breakout image to capture eyeballs in YouTube, then hope you've monetised it correctly.
Graves rises above the ordinary by actually doing research, connecting with the right people, locals and pioneers, and piecing together a clip that's both informative and entertaining.

Have to do this one day.
Rumour is there is another in Indo, not sure how good though.
How's that bonus wave pity it's just that little to fast, nature can be cruel sometimes.
Epic.
That was great!! No chance on section 8. So fast.
I reckon Section 8 would be makeable on a longer board and starting earlier or out on the unbroken section. He timed it wrong.
Need to be whipped in with a tow rope to get heaps of speed off the get go and then just stay high and gun it, still think it would run away from you after a bit though.
I don’t know Don. I agree he timed it wrong but I think getting in earlier or not that wave is gunna swallow you like Jonah for sure.
swallow any of that water and you're going to know about it.
Yeah I thought the same.
Long live novelty waves!
Dylan Graves seems like a genuinely good bloke. One of the few guys I can watch / listen to on YouTube.
Yeah he's nailed this series!
Loved it!
Best surf film I’ve ever seen from Indonesia
Am I totally off base thinking that Dylan Graves makes, by far, the best surf content?
Seems obvious to me.
Is the water polluted ?
