Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 15th January)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Monday morning
Recap
Monday's S'ly swell backed off through yesterday as some new NE windswell started to develop down the coast.
Today the NE windswell was a much better 2-3ft across the coast with a light variable wind during the morning making for lumpy but fun conditions.
This week and weekend (Jan 16 - 19)
A drop in NE windswell is expected tomorrow as a weak S'ly change moves through.
This will cut off the swell producing northerly ridge, but heading into Friday the ridge should re-establish kicking up a building NE windswell into Friday afternoon ahead of a peak through Saturday.
The early morning will be cleanest and best ahead of a stronger S/SE change during the morning bringing with it a small increase in windswell during the late afternoon that will then fade through Sunday.
Next week onwards (Jan 20 onwards)
There's nothing major on the cards for next week besides a small pulse of S/SE groundswell for Monday morning to 1-2ft, while a long-range E/NE groundswell off a tropical cyclone drifting south through the Coral Sea is due Wednesday and Thursday but again not above 1-2ft.
Beyond this the outlook is unclear, but check back here Friday for another update.
