Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thursday 11th December)
Best Days: Friday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Wednesday morning
Recap
A good pulse of SW groundswell built through yesterday across the state before peaking this morning under less than favourable but workable S/SE winds.
Semi-protected locations faired the best before fresh sea breezes kicked in.
End of this week and weekend (Jan 10 - 12)
A reinforcing pulse of SW groundswell is expected tomorrow across the state generated by a strong mid-latitude front on the backside of a strong progression earlier this week (pictured right).
This should continue to offer medium to large waves in the South West, with fun waves closer to Perth and moderate amounts of swell around Gero.
Winds will be much better tomorrow, swinging offshore from the SE-E/SE during the morning while the weekend is looking excellent with stiff offshore E/SE winds across the south of the state, and E/NE winds around Gero.
Sunday will be another scorcher with morning NE winds ahead of a S/SW change during the afternoon.
Next week onwards (Jan 11 onwards)
Next week will start off slow and average with poor winds Monday that will improve into Tuesday.
A small to moderate increase in SW groundswell is due mid-week ahead of a possible stronger SW groundswell into the end of the week. We'll review this in the next update though.
