Fun levels of swell persisted yesterday across the South Arm, while today a new SW groundswell has filled in.
This week (Jan 2 – Jan 3)
A good increase in W/SW swell is due tomorrow as a vigorous mid-latitude low moves across us, aiming a fetch of W/SW gales into the South Arm. Winds will unfortunately swing onshore when the swell peaks into the afternoon.
Friday morning is looking much better with NW winds.
This weekend onwards (Jan 4 onwards)
A stronger W/SW groundswell is expected over the weekend generated by a vigorous mid-latitude frontal progression moving in towards us during the end of this week.
The low will pass right under us and kick up a solid 3-4ft of W/SW swell for Saturday afternoon with fresh to strong W/NW winds. The swell will then ease rapidly through Sunday from 2ft under N/NW winds.
Longer term another good pulse of SW swell is expected next week, but we'll review this again on Friday.
