South Australian Forecast (issued Friday 4th April)
Best Days: Sunday morning down South, Monday morning, possibly Tuesday and Wednesday mornings winds pending
Recap
A mix of medium sized S/SW and W/SW groundswell filled in yesterday to a clean 1-2ft across the Mid Coast and a larger 4ft at Middleton and 4-5ft at Waits but conditions were poor around Victor with fresh S/SE winds.
Today a large and powerful SW groundswell has pushed into the state with inconsistent 1-2ft sets on the Mid Coast under offshore winds while the South Coast is seeing solid 6ft sets hitting the region under fresh E/SE winds.
We should see the swell back off a touch during the day ahead of a further drop during the weekend.
This weekend (Apr 5 - 6)
Today's swell will drop steadily into tomorrow as winds persist from the SE, favouring the Mid, but the swell is expected to back off to a tiny 1ft. There's an outside chance for an early E/SEbreeze down South, but it's not worth the drive from Adelaide.
Sunday is looking better but still far from perfect as winds tend E/NE across the South Coast during the morning and a new medium sized S/SW groundswell fills in.
This swell won't be as big as today's and will be less consistent due to it being created further away but should still build to 4ft across Middleton during the afternoon with 5ft+ sets at Waits. The Mid isn't expected to get much above 1ft but will be clean.
Next week onwards (April 7th onwards)
There should still be plenty of size on offer Monday morning across the South Coast and winds will be great, swinging around to a moderate N/NE'ly creating good waves from Goolwa to Parsons.
From Monday morning onwards though, a slow and steady drop in size is due, with nothing expected until Thursday afternoon in the way of new swell.
Winds may go a little dicey into Tuesday and Wednesday and from the East as a deepening surface trough develops in the Bight, but the models are still diverging on this so you'll have to have a check back here on Monday.
Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards unfortunately so make the most of the coming period of waves.
