Vaccinate or not
I like this and why is it that it is not spoken about on the tv news and main stream media ? ( no billions$ in it would be a guess)
This is positive constructive information for when people get sick and I reckon a good way to help prevent sickness too.
For all those in lockdown stay strong.
Yep
Julian Reichelt, the editor-in-chief of @BILD - one of the largest newspapers in Germany, apologized to the children of Germany for the COVID-19 coverage in his newspaper that made them “victims of neglect, isolation and loneliness.”

It’s still happening. It’s happening in Australia too, make no doubt about it. The US is off its head.
Yes, but should you trust "Chevy Chase MD"?

Do they also get $300 for getting it or do they miss out?
Indo, how do we all feel about more rich people getting $300 because they are already vaccinated......ya can't make this shit up........https://www.theage.com.au/national/fewer-than-one-in-10-fully-vaccinated...
Kind of sucks if they miss out, they are the ones that have done the right thing.
If it happened the areas where it would really boast vaccine take up is in the lower income areas.
Indo , I think the problem here is education and understanding why vaccinate?
Are the richer suburbs more educated?
Whey are the poorer socio-economic groups at a disadvantage , such as in SW Sydney and Melb and have lower rates......??
I have watched the media say that where there are large numbers of recent Immigrants , that's where the Covid hits hardest...so is there a communication problem or ?
I could see a program that targets the lower socio-economic parts of our Nation......and offers incentives........have a read of this about the Global State of vaccinations to poorer countries and the risks we are all now taking in another mutant version of Covid .......the rich western countires have kept the vaccine for themselves...https://www.theage.com.au/world/africa/covax-hasn-t-failed-but-it-is-fai...

Happy 50th Supafreak...freed up a sticky wicket & removed the boundaries...Well played Sir!
There is a science show on Radio National called Science Friction. They have been speaking to 3 British doctors who have long covid. They first spoke to them when they were about 6 months in. Now, after 16 months of long covid, the 3 doctors provided updates.
Natalie (paediatric diseases lecturer). Since the previous week, she has started self-catheterising to assist with passing urine. She walks with crutches, has leg spasms, nerve pain, loss of feeing in her feet. There is a loss of neurological function and she is resigning herself to maybe not getting it all back. That is, having a permanent disability. She can work from home. Only treatment she is getting are drugs to reduce nerve pain. It appears the source of her problems are lesions on her spinal cord. Getting more tests.
Amy (GP) has been very ill. Feverish, brain fog, trouble walking, heart racing (tachycardia), breathlessness. Expelled from her partnership in a GP clinic because she couldn’t work. Still crying over this. High financial stress as her husband also has long covid. The problem seems to be with her hyperthalmos. She is still quite crook. Experimentally taking beta blockers which seem to be helping with her ongoing hyperthalmos symptoms. The beta blockers wouldn’t be at all useful for most covid sufferers. She is now getting some locum GP work.
Ian (amongst other things, president of the association of clinical pathologists) has disabling fatigue, pain, racing heart, muscle twitching, thick brain fog, left foot drop. Out of the blue, a doctor contacted him and said she wanted to run some CT scans on him because she is getting some long covid sufferers with similar symptoms. This doctor looked at the CT scan results and told him to come in urgently because he shouldn’t be alive. The scans revealed he had blood clots in the big vein in the brain extending down into the jugular. He is taking warfarin and he is starting to get some improvement in mental function.
All feel they can define the covid related medical processes that resulted in their conditions.
233 COVID cases!
Good to see the Olympic spirit rubbing off with yet another Personal Best.
Feeling your frustration stu, sadly on the current (mis) managed course it’s going to a very long time before any dawn.
Again, the question to ask is why so out of step with the rest of the country and the lessons learnt here and overseas?
Why don’t you just grab the family and drive to the regions? Just got informed on the local grapevine that a bloke and his family did exactly that and relocated to this town. The lockdown doesn’t apply if you’ve got a holiday house somewhere more convenient.
Not sure what his plan is when someone like himself spreads it here too.
Oh I would but my North Coast holiday house is booked solid - and our South Coast one too...sad face emoji - and we need the income, passive as it is, to pay for Tarquin's schooling and cello lessons.
In the end everyone will make their own decisions about risk/reward.
I now know 5 people who have had Covid.
One old lady in a nursing home: dead within 48hrs.
Two people in their 30's (bro and sister in law in UK): she, bad flu for a week. He, really sick, almost hospitalised for a month. Still not a hundred percent.
Bloke and his missus in their 40's (USA based). Both moderate flu-like symptoms for a week. No lasting effects.
The NSW mayors along the Vic/NSW border are all complaining about how Victoria has now locked their residents out.
Simple really if the NSW premier stopped sydneysiders not in lockdown from travelling throughout the state at ease the Vic Govt wouldn’t have to do her job for her.

0 risk of dying hey? Tell that to the poor 20 year old gentleman who died extremely suddenly yesterday from Covid. This aint no old persons disease anymore folks!!!
zenagain wrote:What an amazing country Australia is. No wonder people are desperate to live there. Seems like they just throw money at you.
Easy to do when you just hit the "print" button whenever you need more cash to throw around. Sounds a lot like my ex wife. Her "print" button was the ATM!!!!
That’s been referred to the coroner, Don. Long gone are the days where it was believed healthy, young people were keeling over from Covid. Just cause the media would have you believe that a strong young man was cut down in his prime by Covid doesn’t mean there’s any truth to it.
But then again, maybe he was the healthy young person who died from Covid? Someone has to be that one in ten million chance I guess.
172 people have died on NSW roads since the year started. Those deaths aren’t as serious as Covid deaths I suppose. A fella I know died a few days ago as well…..didn’t make the papers. Australia averages 379 deaths each and every day, but…….COVID deaths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Blowin, again simple stats, lets say half the pop who have a license are driving ever day, 10 million people are travelling around on the roads.
Now, cases are 1/10,000th of that, so you see you can't really compare those stats unless 10mil of the pop was getting infected.
How many healthy 20 year olds in the entire world have died from Covid?
Fuck all.
If a person is in a car accident and breaks their leg and twelve days later they develop a lung infection and die, would it be counted as a death resulting from car crash? No.
If a person tested Covid positive and maybe had a slight cough and twelve days later had a heart attack would it be counted as a Covid death? Yes.
That’s where your statistics are coming from Craig.
“Definition of COVID-19 death
A COVID-19 death is defined for surveillance purposes as a death in a confirmed COVID-19 case, unless there is a clear alternative cause of death that cannot be related to COVID-19 (e.g. trauma). There should be no period of complete recovery from COVID-19 between illness and death. Where a Coroner’s report is available, these findings are to be observed“
For all we know the 20 year old fella in Western Sydney could have been a severely sick person in palliative care at home who died with Covid positive at the time of death.
Cummon, how often does that happen?
Take away half the deaths then if you want, it still ain't no normal influenza. That's the bottom line.
You’re right there. Normal influenza kills quite a few otherwise young and healthy people.
Ha..
Blowin wrote:How many healthy 20 year olds in the entire world have died from Covid?

well what's your figure , "other than fuck all?"
I posted a link to whats been happening in the IK........which in a sense is good news, as it now shows that young people, 18 - 25 without vaccination are now being infected , entering hospital , on ICU's , 6 times more than the 50-69 year olds......
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/...
Blowin wrote:You’re right there. Normal influenza kills quite a few otherwise young and healthy people.
diabetes also kills nearly 5000 people a year , but what do car accidents/influenza have to do with Covid.......7 people in NSW in their 20's are in ICU.....over the last few mths it's easy to see globally that unvaccinated people are now having a Covid epedemic.......it's not just about the deaths , but the hospitalizations and the stress on the health systems......
Thanks for that data Brutus.
Yep, again with unvaccinated ending up in hospitals due to COVID, say we have an accident or need urgent critical care, we'll be the ones impacted..

Craig-“Yep, again with unvaccinated ending up in hospitals due to COVID, say we have an accident or need urgent critical care, we'll be the ones impacted..“
Rightio mate. Let’s never hear of you going surfing again hey? A bloke your age is more likely to end up in hospital, and displacing some needy person, as result of surfing accident than a similar aged unvaccinated person is from being hospitalised from Covid.
If an unvaccinated person is a burden on the health system then so is someone who gets injured through misadventure. Tell me what the difference is Craig?
Brutus -those graphs showed modelled predictions of positive tests, not numbers clogging up ICU and denying Craig a bed when he gets a fin chop at Manly.

here Blowin, an unvaccinated person makes a choice about his/hers personal health .....it's a choice. If you don't believe the virus is that bad and your immune system is more than capable of stopping Covid.....well that's a personal choice against the scientific evidence we have at the moment.
So if you choose not to vaccinate and get sick , call Pete Evans he'll fix ya up and then you are not liability on the health system....
An accident is an accident, the person was hurt accidently.....opposite to anti-vaxxers...who have made their choice and accepted vaccines are not needed.....

me bad....try this Blowin.....https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/25/seriously-ill-young-people...
Brutus- An accident isn’t an accident. You’d know this if you’d ever had the misfortune of encountering an occupational health and safety worker on their turf. There is a hierarchy of controls for preventing accidents. The primary control is eliminating the hazard. Surfing is a hazardous activity as is drug usage. If you were to end up in hospital as a result of surfing or drug usage you are just as culpable as an unvaccinated person becoming ill.
Stupa- No. Sounds legit. Like the data has always said , there will be some very, very, very unlucky healthy young individuals who die from Covid.
I knew a fella who died in his late 20’s from a heart attack, this doesn’t alter the fact that people in their 20’s are very, very, very unlikely to die of a heart attack.

Mate are you a window licker or what ? That chevy chase doctor is saying exactly known truths about immune response and what to do to minimse illness as much as practicable,
Maybe next time you catch covid give his tips a try instead of being a closed minded fool

the heirachy of controls is upside down in every joint ive worked at, PPE at the top
PPE is the final and least effective control.
A nose guard ( PPE) may lessen the extent of injuries in a surfing accident, not surfing ( elimination) will entirely exclude the potential for a surfing accident.
The federal government has abrogated their responsibilities and cast them upon the population of Australia when they failed to implement suitable quarantine facilities. This would have eliminated the threat of the virus into Australia until the vulnerable were able to be either vaccinated or placed in a suitable place of care. The Federal Government has chosen to ignore their responsibility and instead forced exposure of healthy and invulnerable Australians to a vaccine with such serious side effects* that it’s killed more people in 18 months than every other vaccine combined has killed in the last 18 years.
Scomo is your killer. People are being trained to infight amongst themselves when the government is the enemy.

Jeez, with this kind of thinking I'm not gonna waste any more energy.
As Brutus said, if the hospitals get clogged with unvaccinated (by choice) and it impacts the rest of us tax payers who cough up for such first world facilities there are going to be serious issues.
Maybe by declining a COVID vax, they can tick a box saying they won't use the hospital systems if they get sick from COVID. That's a bit fairer eh..
Time to now go outside and enjoy the sunshine.

when money is involved and management have to spend the heirachy is upside down everytime
Don’t like that thinking mate? You must get an idea of how much my head hurts when you spout your dribble which mirrors it exactly. Voluntary action is voluntary action whether it’s choosing to avoid a needle or choosing to avoid pulling into a dangerous close out.
Better not get hurt outside playing splash splash , Craig. You’ll be pushing a sick granny out of a hospital bed. Maybe you can tick a box saying that if you get hurt landing on your fins you won’t get medical attention?
BTW- I’ve payed more tax than you Craig? Does this mean I get hospital priority if we simultaneously hurt ourselves surfing?
I was a little shocked at Alan Joyce (CEO Qantas) announcement that international travelers will be required to have a covid 19 vaccination in order to travel on Qantas flights . The government wanted to have mandatory vaccination but after the bumbling of its release ( it was painful to watch the delivery of that announcement ) they withdrew the mandatory part but it seems Qantas and other business may demand a vaccination in order to use their services. I’m not anti vaccine by any means I just don’t trust this government or a vaccine that has been rushed through. A jab followed by another jab followed by yearly jabs doesn’t sit well with me as I have never had a flu shot or the flu for more than 20 years. Plus I don’t want to give this shot to my healthy 4 year old daughter. She is up to date with all her vaccinations but this covid vaccine is new and not being around for decades like the others. Tuberculosis remains the number one as far diseases go and you don’t need proof of vaccination to travel so what is going on ?
