Had to rack my brain a little bit here goes. Not funny, not even a close brush with death, just the threat of it. Not from the ocean or it’s toothy inhabitants either. Think more of an extremely large bovine.
I lived in the eastern ranges of the Rockies for a few years in my mid twenties. One of my good mates was a keen fisherman so on long summer evenings we’d hike around the sloughs and cast spinners for brook trout. Aggressive little fuckers and fun on the lightest gear you could find.
Anyway the above mentioned mate and another good mate who’s since past where out and about a few k’s from the highway doing pretty good when the resident Moose decided it was time for us to go. It was during the rut. So we started back towards the car maintaining a bit of distance for safety, still flicking the lures as we moved along the stream. Well that turned into a brisk walk then a light jog to end up in a steady run to the tree line. Safety, or so we thought. We had escaped one angry huge moose only to be confronted by a not quite as large but no less hormonally pepped up Elk. We escaped that one too but it was a long unplanned detour back to the car with a high degree of shoulder glancing. Few hot ones might’ve gone down on the drive home that evening, Canada eh’.

Oh yeah I heard the KG’s get pretty big in SA Basesix. Never been out there, was musing about a Cactus run over the Christmas break, too much work to tidy up and the missus put a total ban on the grom surfing out there. Luckily we got to pick the eyeballs out of the west coast for a bit over a week.

I cant be bothered going into my own views around that day and those involved and what i think of who should or shouldn't have been dealt with by the law, same deal with the BLM riots.
But to me this whole pardoning thing by both sides sucks.
IMHO if a president is able to pardon people it should be a very rare and controversial occasion, something that is used once in a decade for some very unique situation.
Not just, each side ticking off some list, keeping their voters happy or who knows what kind of deals are done behind the scenes.
It just seems like it goes against democracy and rule of law and the court system etc.
