New Swellnet wheels?
Hahaha.
The XB will be the first to go.
2nd hand Ute. Not exactly on topic… but keen for the community thoughts on something:
Going to look at a 2018 D-Max this mrng.
170K km, 30% of it towing a caravan.
Been well looked after, one owner. Log book servicing.
Fully kitted out. Canopy, dual battery, lift kit, winch, etc etc. looks like a good surf / snow / camping wagon
wants $39K
It’s more km than I was looking for, and slightly above my price bracket. But, keen for any thoughts. And any advice on what I might want to look at.
Thanks
Yep
Dont go look
More Kms than you want...more $ than you want to $pend...Do you need the extra Accessories...?
You can see all you need to by the Pics... and Read up on there Known Problems .
@etarip, they're good cars, not as good as a Ranger, but I reckon probably one of the best of the rest.
They have known problems with the front end, cv joint, wears out fast, and towing a caravan won't help that, the Km's wouldn't be a worry I reckon if he's got the books, but $40k, bit pricey, I'd offer less and keep looking.
I personally avoid buying second hand vehicles used for towing caravans and boats, just my preference.

It’s slightly more spec’d up than I really need - don’t need a CB or the fuel separator - but it does have the dual battery, canopy wired up, solar setup, bull bar (I do a lot of rural driving), etc that I do want for a camping wagon and it has been really well looked after.
It’s a local guy here, not online.
He’s also come down closer to my budget.

The towing is one of my concerns. But after quizzing the owner and his wife separately they didn’t use it that much for towing and they’ve upgraded to a motorhome instead of a caravan.
Still looking and we’ll probably stay firm on our budget. If I was in Sydney there’s heaps more on the market. But the south coast doesn’t have heaps on offer.
My rule of thumb with second hand vehicles is shop for the owner first, vehicle second. If i get a funny feeling about the owners i pull the pin immediately.
Sounds like @adam12s advice is pretty sound on this one.
Good luck @etarip.
Whoaa, good advice.
Remind me to never buy a car off you, Southern. Bloody thing would overheat before it got out the driveway.
How big/heavy was the caravan Etarip? Those things claim 3T towing capacity but are really nowhere near that. If it was a single axle under 16’ might not be an issue.
Took it for a spin. Drives nicely.
Plenty of low speed driving with it on full lock both sides listening for any knocking.
Owners seem legit. Locals. Definitely looked after it. Servicing done before or at all scheduled periods.
We’re not moving on our budget so we’ll see how they respond.

hahaha. That was very funny!
bastard!!
Hope ya had a good Chrissy @seeds.
Not really old mate. Worked it all but I don’t like Xmas time so that suited me.
You seem to be rather festive at the moment and no doubt enjoying time off. Happy New Year and all the best for the upcoming year.
Thanks for all the advice. I’m leaning toward just holding for a while. Not in a rush
Best position to be in Etarip!!
Cheers @seeds.
Yeah Christmas sucks here too. I hear ya.
Yep stress free for a few weeks. Happy days! haha
Likewise mate. All the best for the coming new year.

Haha good one gents. Nearly spat me beer.
First thing I'd do is check the gaskets. ;)
haha bugger off the lot of ya.
Reliable, hardly ever broken down, goes forever....not too many bumps and scrapes and got a v8 under the bonnet!
Just the accelerator gets stuck from time to time.
Not my fault. Got firey Yugo/Scottish combo in the blood.
And proud of it!
Last car I bought did the head gasket within a month. Paid way too much to start with then whammooo? Take that ya silly coont.
Nothing wrong with Scottish heritage. :):) got some myself.
Legend @seeds.
I think i've just gotta stay away from the high octane fuel ;-)
Ha, come on what is it? V8 monster.
No fuel now. Just back to EV. haha.
Oh no! You’ve gone woke!
haha but not broke!!
Haha b6 I said similar to an Englishman at a party in the 90’s
The one thing wrong with England is that it’s full of English people.
He wasn’t happy but….
I think Aussies are better with rolling with it. It’s culture.
the best thing about the english is that they are inherently amusing, even when they're not funny. love it.. I suppose we might be seen that way too. hope so.
I don’t know about that?
Yugo's are pretty hardcore, plenty in the fishing game.
although, of course, it's not called Yugoslavia anymore since their federal legislature voted to divide it into the Yoog Republic and Slovavia.
My granddad always called it Yugoslavia til the day he died. Didn't wanna know about all the other b.s.
And as for Scottish wheels....
Very funny b6
