On Friday Greg Webber signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build the first of his Webber Wave Pools. The agreement comes two years after Webber's first public proposal. Since then a number of potential developers have been mooted but this is the first time the dotted line has been signed.
The race to build the first wavepool specifically designed for surfers is heating up. Less than a month after Kelly Slater's Gold Coast project was aborted, Wavegarden, the European-based company, are about to unveil a demonstration lagoon that will, according to their Australian partner, "blow you away."

From my point of view the whole industry lacks professionalism
The surf industry has a propensity to look backwards - to look at what happened in the 50' s and the 60's and the 70's - and I doubt very much if you went to an aerospace conference people would be talking about the Wright brothers, like 'yeah they killed it back then!'
