Jim Banks: An evening with an enduring legend
From a Cronulla grommet to a Top 16 professional, an acclaimed designer and shaper, and the ultimate explorer of the Indonesian Archipelago, there is not much in surfing that he has not experienced.
From a Cronulla grommet to a Top 16 professional, an acclaimed designer and shaper, and the ultimate explorer of the Indonesian Archipelago, there is not much in surfing that he has not experienced.
Relentless traveller, Indo pioneer, ex-professional surfer, surfboard shaper, and musician, Jim Banks will be presenting an evening of images, stories and performing songs collected from over thirty years exploring some of the world's most remote and challenging waves.
During the Easter weekend, as every surfable coastline in Australia was hit by swell, Indonesia received its first significant swell of the season. Bali-based photographer, Mick Curley, spent two days driving around his island home shooting the waves from huge Outside Corner (that's Jim Banks in the first shot) to perfect Padang Padang and all the usual suspects on the Bukit. Mick also shot a few lesser known rights during the swell. We'll leave you to guess where they are.
