This weekend and next week (Nov 17 - 23)

We've got some fun new SW swell pulses due over the weekend, but winds will create average conditions.

Later today and more so tomorrow morning a mid-period SW swell is due across the state, generated by the first and weakest of two polar lows pushing through our swell window this week.

There's been no change to the expected size with Margs coming in at 4-5ft across swell magnets, 2ft in Mandurah and 1-2ft in Perth.

Winds will be best at dawn and offshore out of the E/SE-SE across Margs, E/NE further north, but a small weak low will drift east and bring onshore winds by mid-late morning.

We'll then see average moderate W/SW tending stronger S/SW winds (late arvo Mandurah and Perth) through Sunday along with our better long-period SW groundswell.

The groundswell is due to build through Sunday and reach 5-6ft across the South West into the afternoon, 2ft in Mandurah again and 1-2ft in Perth, easing back through Monday.

We're now due to see a mid-period SW swell building through Monday afternoon and peaking Tuesday across the region.

This will be produced by back to back broad fetches of sub-gale-force (25-30kt) SW winds over the weekend.

Size wise we should see weak 6ft sets on the South West reefs, 2ft in Mandurah and 1-2ft in Perth Tuesday morning. Winds on Monday will remain average and out of the S/SW across the South West, better and S/SE in Perth and Mandurah, while Tuesday will see S/SE winds across all locations.

Wednesday looks the cleanest with a straight E'ly offshore but swell wise, we'll be looking at smaller 3-5ft waves across the South West and 1-2ft in Mandurah.

The surf is expected to bottom out on Thursday with an E/NE offshore, while a new mid-period SW swell is likely on Friday, generated by pre-frontal W/NW gales on the back of the fronts generating Tuesday's swells.

Size wise nothing above 4ft is expected across the South West, but check back here Monday for more on this. Have a great weekend!
