Small surf over the coming days before kicking again from the weekend
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 24th October)
Best Days: Thursday morning across the South West, Sunday and Monday mornings Margs and Mandurah, Tuesday all locations
Recap
The surf remained large across the South West yesterday morning and to 8ft+ on the exposed reefs, with a short window of clean conditions before winds tended onshore, while today winds were only light onshore with a drop in swell back to 4-6ft.
Perth and Mandurah were clean and fun again with a light E'ly offshore and smaller leftover sets in the 2ft range.

This week and weekend (Oct 25 - 28)
The surf is expected to continue dropping through tomorrow and winds are now looking a bit better and conditions cleaner across the South West.
Perth and Mandurah are looking generally tiny, but the South West should still provide sets to 4ft on the exposed reefs with a morning SE'ly, tending S/SE and then S/SW into the afternoon.
Friday will be smaller with winds reverting back to the S/SE, and with the lack of size, there'll be nowhere to really recommend.
Our SW groundswells for the weekend and early next week are now looking a bit better with an initial and very poorly aligned pre-frontal fetch of N/NW gales due to be followed by a broad and very slow moving polar fetch of strong to gale-force W'ly winds.
A moderate mid-period SW groundswell should be generated, building slowly Saturday with a peak due Sunday to 4-6ft across the South West, 1-2ft in Mandurah and 1-1.5ft in Perth.
A morning SE'ly is expected across all locations Saturday morning but the South West will be small, tiny to flat to the north, while Sunday looks much better with an E/SE offshore.
Another slightly better aligned (compared to the NNW fetch) though patchy fetch of pre-frontal W/NW gales moving in between Heard Island and our state should produce a reinforcing SW groundswell for Monday to 4-5ft+ across the South West, with a touch else consistency further north around Perth and Mandurah.
A small trough moving in Monday may bring onshore winds to the South West, with a morning S/SE'ly to the north, cleaner Tuesday with a new mid-period W/SW swell.
This swell will be better aligned for Perth and Mandurah, generated by a broad but relatively weak mid-latitude front pushing in from the Heard Island region towards us, bringing the change Monday.
Size wise the South West looks to persist at 4-6ft with 2ft sets in Mandurah and Perth. As touched on above conditions will be nice and clean through the morning, similar Wednesday as the swell eases slowly.
Longer term there's a bit of activity due into the end of the week/next weekend, but more on this Friday.
