Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 11th October)

Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning South West, Saturday South West

Recap

Poor waves across the South West with onshore winds and a bit more swell today, but we should see some stronger energy in the 6ft+ range filling in later this afternoon. Mandurah and Perth were average yesterday but conditions have cleaned right up this morning with 2-3ft sets around the former, and 1-2ft waves across the later.

This week and weekend (Oct 12 - 15)

This afternoon's secondary pulse of SW energy is due to peak overnight, easing back through tomorrow from the 6ft range on the sets across the South West, 2-3ft around Mandurah and 2ft in Perth, smaller Friday.

Winds should become variable and tend light SE-E/SE across the South West tomorrow morning with E/SE offshores to the north, while Friday will see a more pronounced offshore E/SE'ly across all locations during the morning.

The weekend is looking small but a reinforcing SW groundswell is due late Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, generated by a relatively weak polar low over the last couple of days.

This swell isn't looking too special with tiny 1-1.5ft waves due to the north late Saturday and early Sunday, while Margs should increase to 3-5ft later, easing from a similar size Sunday.

Conditions look clean Saturday morning with an E/NE tending NE offshore, becoming variable ahead of late sea breezes and then weak onshore winds Sunday.

Longer term a mid-latitude storm will likely bring onshore winds and some weak swell through early-mid next week, cleaning up later in the week, but more on this Friday.
