Make the most of early tomorrow
Southern Tasmanian Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday January 10th)
Best Days: Tomorrow morning
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Easing mid-period SW swell tomorrow with variable tending light S/SE winds, increasing further into the PM
- Tiny swells for the rest of the week and weekend with S/SE winds Wed, E/NE Thu-Fri. SW winds Sat
Recap
Poor surf Saturday with onshore winds and a building windswell, much better yesterday with a mix of swells to 2ft and cleaner conditions in selected spots.
Today the swell is still there but conditions average with a S'ly change.
This week and next (Jan 8 - 14)
The swell from the past two days will ease back through tomorrow with 1-2ft waves due across Clifton along with better winds. A variable offshore breeze is due before winds slowly increase from the S/SE late morning, fresher into the afternoon.
Therefore aim for the dawny.
Looking at the week and weekend ahead the outlook is average with no major frontal activity due to move through our swell window. In saying this, weak, unfavourably aligned fronts will prevent Clifton from going flat with tiny pulses of due to maintain 1ft waves from Wednesday through Sunday.
Winds are an issue, S/SE on Wednesday, shifting E/NE on Thursday and strengthening with persistent E/NE breezes on Friday. Another trough looks to bring a change to the SW Saturday so even with the tiny swells options will be limited.
Unfortunately there's still nothing major on the cards longer term, but more on this next update.
