Recap
Poor surf with onshore winds the last two days, and we're seeing it spoil a good new SW groundswell that's filling in today.
This weekend and next week (Dec 11 - 17)
The new pulse of SW groundswell due into the late afternoon today is showing on the Cape Sorell wave buoy and we should see it pushing to 3ft (head-high) on the sets before easing from a similar size tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately a low deepening to our north-east will drift south and broaden, bringing poor S/SE tending SE winds tomorrow, improving Sunday and swinging NE ahead of a strengthening E/NE trend through the day.
Swell wise our reinforcing pulse of mid-period S/SW swell is on track with the frontal system linked to it currently passing under the state.
This will keep wave heights up around 2-3ft through Sunday then easing from 2ft on the sets Monday.
Winds will be a touch better and more N/NE on Monday, fresh in nature before shifting strong E/NE into the afternoon.
Longer term there's a small, inconsistent W/SW groundswell for Thursday and Friday with offshore winds likely on the former but we'll have a closer look at this on Monday. In the meantime make the most of Sunday and Monday. Have a great weekend!
