Recap

Light onshore winds but with a bit of swell Saturday, cleaner yesterday but with the swell dropping back to 1-2ft.

Today a reinforcing pulse of fun swell has bumped the surf back to the more consistent 2ft range with variable morning winds again.

This week and weekend (Nov 23 – 28)

Tomorrow is looking very nice with a good pulse of new W/SW groundswell, generated by a strong low that develop south of the country yesterday. A great fetch of W/NW gales pushed east-southeast through our swell window with the low now weakening while passing under us today.

The swell should peak tomorrow with good 3ft sets due across Clifton most of the day (possibly a touch undersized at dawn) and with a light N/NE tending E/NE-E breeze.

Wednesday looks clean again with a light N/NW offshore ahead of S/SE sea breezes and with easing sets from 2ft.

For the rest of the week, weak frontal activity will keep Clifton around 1-1.5ft or so but we should see a new pulse of SW groundswell for Friday. This will be generated by a strengthening polar low moving in during this week, projecting a short-lived fetch of gale-force W/SW winds through our swell window.

A fun pulse to 3ft is due across Clifton again but a trough linked to the front will bring strong S'ly winds and poor conditions.

The trough will form into a low off the far southern NSW coast as touched on in last week's updates, but sit too far north to generate any swell for us. Instead we'll see onshore S/SE winds and poor conditions Saturday, cleaner Sunday but with fading 1ft surf.

Longer term a good new SW swell is on the cards for early next week but we'll look at this closer on Wednesday.
